Baby Booties

It must be in the water. I have two cousins that are both expecting in early 2011.  I'm super excited for them.  As anyone with kids realizes, life changes in ways that you can never prepare for.  You think you know what you're getting into, but you really don't.

Warning - This is a little demented, but one of my favorite "types" of people to spy on are first-time mothers.  I think about what they are doing at that moment - maybe they are riding the train and quietly sipping tea, or going on a date with their husband, or watching a movie with friends - and I think about how those moments will never be the same for them again.  Date night becomes time to catch up on sleep, watching a movie turns into Elmo on TV, riding on the train becomes rushing around to get the kids to school.  Yes - the change is worth it (when the kids laugh my heart leaps!) - but would we all have made the leap if we fully knew how different life would be?

If you are my cousins, please stop reading.  I digress - I have been searching high and low for baby booties I want to knit.  Below is a style I'm thinking of but am afraid it's a little too girly for boy babies...I better decide soon - I'll be knitting for 6 feet (one cousin is having twins!)

Also - I've listed some great items on Ebay (take a look).  The picture below is of one of my favorite tops, it no longer fits correctly so I hope it goes to a good home!

Renegade Craft Show Tomorrow!

I'm incredibly excited to go to the Renegade Craft Show tomorrow.  I'm hoping to feel inspired by all the other crafters of Chicago!

I finished my Blue Cardigan!  I'll place better pictures tomorrow, but too excited to delay the post :)

David Bowie and balls of yarn

While driving my daughter Katie to her instrument fitting a song came on.  Some may know this song as the sample source for Ice, Ice Baby; however, the more ancient among us know the song as Under Pressure.  Katie said - "is this David Bowie?"......At that specific moment in time, I felt absolutely redeemed as a parent.  My daughter recognized the greatest glam rock star to ever live.

On a side note, I have a ball of yarn that I don't know what to knit!  Approximately 120 yards total, medium weight.  I'm thinking a slouchy beret style hat - but not sure how that would turn out.  Open to suggestions or a good lace scarf pattern that is made for heavier yarn.

By the way - she chose clarinet :)

The Sartorialist gets me through the Day

I frequently question style and my intense love for it.  One should never question it too deeply as style has an odd way of not making sense - instead, it just "feels" right.  A man who captures this feeling is Scott Schuman who creates the blog: The Sartorialist.

Case in point - I came home from work and my daughter's curriculum night and popped into a pair of long-legged jersey shorts.  I LOVE THESE shorts - they are not beautiful, but the feeling of comfort is better than a bowl of cereal (I'll get into my cereal addiction another time).  What does Mr. Sartorialist put on his blog today? The first time I ever see him showcase workout wear and the shorts emanate the same feeling as mine.

My First Listing on Etsy! Yin Yang

It has been a long journey to get this first listing on Etsy, but it's finally here!  As my personality typically dictates, I started with a red-hot black thong and then went the complete opposite with a very girly flower thong.  Both are hand-created.

Let me know what you think.  If you need one in your size, let me know and I'll create it for you!
